About the role
As we continue to expand our Research & Development (R&D) capabilities at reMarkable, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software R&D Engineer to play a critical role in developing groundbreaking technology solutions. The role will be responsible for conducting R&D activities with focus on embedded systems and low-level programming. By exploring domains where physics meets electronics and software, we want this role to play a key part in us remaining as the leading company in delivering excellent user experiences for our customers.
Your responsibilities may include
Driving technological advancements and innovation within the designated area
Utilizing deep technical expertise and strategic R&D knowledge to lead projects
Conducting advanced research to explore new technologies and methodologies. Discover how technologies can be adopted and used in our products
Developing prototypes and proof-of-concept models to demonstrate feasibility

We are looking for the following:
Broad and deep knowledge of embedded systems, hardware architecture, and relevant programming languages (e.g., C/C++,Rust, Zig, assembly)
An understanding of hardware schematics and electronic design. Proficiency in using debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Knowledge of microcontroller architectures and their peripherals
Experience with development of device drivers, in addition to experience with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB) and interfacing with sensors, actuators, and other external devices
