Role overview
As the Business Controller for Product division covering early stage innovation, product development and industrialization, you will be a key player in bringing financial control and structure to our product operations and development projects. Reporting to the Head of Business Controlling, you will work cross-functionally to support financial processes for new product development, streamline budgeting, and play an essential role in capital allocation decisions. Success in this role means establishing yourself as the finance point-of-contact for the Product division, mastering our financial processes, and driving impactful financial controls.
About the team
Our Business Controlling Team provides critical financial insights and data-driven guidance to support strategic decision-making across the organization. We handle budgeting, forecasting, and deliver "actuals vs. budget" insights while contributing to monthly financial close processes. Our focus today is on operational and project costs, with a long-term goal of fully analyzing our P&L, covering revenue, logistics, and overall financial health.
The team comprises three controllers with each assigned to specific supertribes. This role will specifically oversee the Product division, where the team collaborates closely with strategic finance, accounting, the CFO’s office, and outsourced accounting partners.
Your responsibilities may include
- Track Financial Performance and Portfolio: Regularly monitor and assess the financial performance and strategic portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and Enhance Control Processes: Establish, refine, and uphold robust financial control processes to support reliable and efficient reporting.
- Capital Allocation Support: Assist in the capital allocation process by preparing and providing key financial inputs for informed prioritization decisions.
- Financial Oversight for Product Development: Manage and support financial aspects of the Product division, including project control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for new product initiatives.
- Collaborative Business Reviews: Work closely with business owners to conduct financial reviews and ensure alignment with project and company objectives.
- Month-End Closing Participation: Play an active role in month-end closing, with responsibilities including cost allocation and provisions, to ensure accurate and complete financial records
We are looking for the following experience:
- Expertise in Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting: You possess in-depth knowledge and experience in managing these financial processes, with a proven track record of delivering finance-related advice and operational support for large and diverse product development programs.
- Professional Experience: You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Business Controlling, along with 2-3 years of background in audit or consulting.
- Process Implementation Skills: You excel in implementing new processes and driving continuous process improvements.
- Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is expected.
- It is also an advantage if you have Familiarity with ERP systems (especially SAP) and knowledge of IFRS standards are advantageous.
As a person you are a self-motivated, reliable, and flexible professional with strong problem-solving and communication skills. With a structured approach, you can focus on both important details and the broader perspective. You are comfortable with your ability to handle rapid changes and to navigate when the map is not giving you all the answers.
You are able to work independently, but are also a team player who knows when and how to involve a broader range of people to succeed with the task at hand.
