Technology Sourcing Commodity Manager

reMarkable seeks a Technology Sourcing Commodity Manager to work within the Technology Commodity team. We are responsible for architecting and leading rM’s technology supply base globally. Join us in the development of industry leading commodity strategies and technology road mapping.
The team explores new product ideas, technology scouting, sourcing new suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions, managing, and developing suppliers, supplier relationships and contracts. All with the ambition of enabling reMarkable to make innovative products at competitive prices superseding our customer’s expectations.
Our Technology Commodity team works closely with our designers and engineers, sets the category strategy and manages all direct relationships with manufacturers in the entire supplier lifecycle.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Evaluate, select, and manage vendor partnerships in strategic initiatives
- Work closely with our engineering and design teams on new product development projects to define, plan and execute sourcing strategies
- Be a key contributor to connect the dots between internal ideas and requirements and potential external partners that can help complete the picture
- Take responsibility for strategic, tactical and operational initiatives and tasks within your own scope
- Assess and understand vendors’ technology roadmaps
- Drive the source to contract process, including orchestrating cross functional supplier qualification
- Be responsible to negotiate best in class terms and conditions including managing discussions on IP, patents etc in close collaboration with our legal department
- Contribute to build and develop processes, tools and ways of working
- Execute sourcing decisions, risk assessment/mitigation and alternate technical solution development.
- Oversee large, complex programs consisting of multiple locations and stakeholders.
Who we believe will succeed in this role
- You bring a blend of commercial acumen with engineering problem solving
- Curious about new technologies and enjoy diving into new areas
- Approach complex problems with an analytic and pragmatic approach, working comfortably with concepts and not fully detailed specs
- Hands on experience within sourcing and product/concept development
- Experience in contract negotiations
- Higher education, preferably with a technical degree
- Good communication skills; comfortable managing stakeholders, enjoy building and maintaining business relationships and working effectively with a range of colleagues from suppliers to R&D engineers, legal and supply chain
It is also a benefit if you have
- Relevant work experience within the electronics industry, global sourcing, consulting or similar is a differentiator
- Prior experience in the areas of Audio / Visual Technologies (Displays, Touch, Camera, Audio or JDM product development)
