About the role

At reMarkable, our Data Platform team is central to the Data & Insight department, building tools that empower our analytics teams to drive innovation. As we grow, so does our need for data, leading us to develop a world-class capability inspired by the Data Mesh paradigm. We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our cross-functional team and help deliver valuable insights to stakeholders. In this role, you'll collaborate with other engineers to enhance our Data Platform infrastructure, design architectures, build data models and pipelines, and integrate diverse data sources. Our tech stack

Our infrastructure is mainly built in GCP (Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Looker), with additional supporting tools for transformation and orchestration (e.g. dbt, Terraform, Github) as well as ingesting tools such as Fivetran and observability tooling.

Your responsibilities may include

• Create and maintain robust and maintainable data pipelines, implementing transformations with SQL (dbt) or programming languages like Python, while ensuring our technology stack is relevant and up to date.

• Write tests for data and applications to ensure accuracy and reliability, and improve developer infrastructure through the creation of CI/CD pipelines and test automation.

• Architect cloud applications using Terraform and develop cloud infrastructure, while programming in Python and Golang to enhance application functionality.

• Ensure our dbt stack is running smoothly, setting up monitoring for applications and data to maintain stability.

• Collaborate with data analysts and analytics engineers to define core principles of our data platform, upskill team members, share knowledge, and support them, while striving to solve root problems and evaluating new technologies for relevance.

Who we believe will succeed in this role

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field and an interest in working with data.

• Strong programming literacy in languages like Python, Go, and SQL, and an interest in learning new languages.

As a person, you should be a self-starter with a product-oriented mindset, who possess strategic skills to evaluate solutions based on future implications and make informed decisions. You enjoy teamwork and collaboration, as well as coaching and mentoring others.
